Myth 06: They won’t be able to play sports.

Each state has different laws about the involvement of homeschooled students in school sports. Prior to high school, homeschool students have every opportunity to play sports as the next. If anything, homeschool students can devote intentional time to strength and conditioning, skill work, and fundamentals of their sports because they are not being babysat 8 hours a day at school.

Education is dealt with at the state level. Some states allow homeschool students to join their local high school team for sports, where other states only allow students enrolled in their district to play on their sport's teams. If you live in a state (like California) many schools offer independent study programs which would allow students to be homeschooled (with restrictions) and participate in high school sports. The restrictions can include, the method of teaching, packets, grading, curriculum are all chosen by the teacher of record.
